We were back in Texas for fall break, this time on the east coast for a week on the beach in Galveston. We started with a quick trip up to Grandma Barb’s and Grandpa Ashley’s house in Huntsville. We helped with a couple of chores, and explored a few of the sights in town, including the Texas State Prison Museum.

We rented a house in Pirate’s Beach, about 15 minutes south of Galveston city for the rest of the week. We had enough room for Grandma and Grandpa, Aunt Alana, Uncle Dave, and Will to join us for several days. The weather was generally very good throughout the week. Once or twice the combination of cloud cover and breeze made it just a bit too cool to be on the beach, but the rest of the time was very pleasant.

We filled the week with many of the usual Galveston activities. We rode the ferry, toured the WWII submarine and destroyer, ate ice cream at La King’s confectionery, and of course, had a couple of shrimp dinners. We had a lot of fun, and enjoyed having so much of the family gathered in one place.
