For Mother’s Day this year, we drove down to Colorado Springs with some friends of our to visit the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo. It might not be your typical Mother’s Day activity, but with an absolutely gorgeous spring day, it was certainly a popular one. At first we were turned away because the parking lot was full. After lunch, we tried again, and made it in.

One of the big attractions at the zoo is feeding the giraffes. As you can see from the pictures, the boys definitely enjoyed it. For a couple of bucks, you buy a handful of crackers or lettuce leaves, and the giraffes come swarming. We waited until near closing time to take our turn, which meant we had much of the feeding area to ourselves. The boys got a kick out of placing the crackers on the giraffes’ extended tongues. Even was a little creeped out. He just couldn’t get himself to set the cracker down. He kept trying to throw it into their mouths. Of course, that didn’t stop him from coming back for more.

Anyway, it was a lovely day, and the boys had a good time.
