We headed into the mountains for some leaf peeping. It was a beautiful day, and the aspens were really shining. We also realized that the road to the top of “Evan’s mountain” (Evan got a kick out of thinking that Mount Evans was his) was still open, since it usually closes after Labor Day. We decided to make the trek to the top. We had some up-close encounters with several big horn sheep and saw a few mountain goats.
The boys probably enjoyed the little hike up to the top more than anything else. It’s a short windy trail, with several opportunities to scramble up the rocks and into little nooks and crannies.
